Cianflone Scientific Acquires Tensitron

Leading manufacturer of testing instrumentation grows its product line used across many industries for quality control

Pittsburgh, PA / April 15, 2016 / Cianflone Scientific, the industry leader of portable WDXRF analyzers (portable x-ray spectrographs) and lab sampling equipment, has announced the acquisition of Tensitron, Inc., a global industry leader in the design and manufacturing of tension meters, transducers, and custom measuring instrumentation. Tensitron will operate under Cianflone’s growth model for its testing instrumentation product families. Its brand, team, and traditional operations will remain the same. The acquisition was supported by Main Line Equity Partners, who will provide capital and human resources to achieve Cianflone’s goals.

Tensitron was founded in 1935 by Dr. Erwin J. Saxl, a well-known physicist. The company quickly became recognized as an industry standard for tension meters and measurement. It’s products quickly and accurately measure a wide variety of materials and applications including Aircraft Cables; Large Cable, Band and Web; Wire and Textile; and Strap. They include hand-held devices and permanently mounted systems; mechanical and digital technologies, and tension ranges 1 gram to 1 ton.

Prior to the acquisition, Stanley Saxl, son of Erwin, held the role President and was also an innovative developer. Stanley Saxl will step away from Tensitron.

Cianflone’s President Doug Hart will manage Tensitron and execute key sales and marketing strategies. Hart has more than 25 years of proven leadership as an owner, operator, and advisor.
